D5401 LB/WL6 Concerto Bass – Live Mic for wireless Systems

The D5401 LB/WL6 model has been designed with measures to fit the upright concerto bass used in orchestras and classical ensembles. The upright concerto bass is typically constructed to have more space between fingerboard and body of the instrument, which requires a REMIC microphone that is slightly taller than the D5400 LB.

The D5401 LB/WL6 is designed for close miking in loud live performances and delivers the true sound of the instrument with an extreme accuracy and fast transient response that captures the finest and most delicate overtones of the instrument.

The microphone employs the REMIC Fusion technology to achieve the highest suppression of ambient sound-sources in a condenser microphone. The high suppression is achieved by the omni-spherical suppression superior to classic cardioid microphones. The suppression is not based on directivity but on distance factor.

The sound response of the REMIC Fusion technology is true to the instrument due to the high ambient suppression factor in comparison to the Studio models, which inherently pick up the room reverberation. LB models should be sound shaped using modern reverberation engines that provide a return to natural sound for the artist. In addition it is therefore well suited for pairing with contemporary studio sound processing technology.

It is ideal for Folk-rock, Pop, Rock and Metal performances where high gain before feedback is needed with high suppression of neighbour instruments and ambient noise.

D5401 LB/WL6 features a non intrusive rubber mount with acoustic foam and allows a fixed and well defined location on the instrument, making it easy to reproduce a consistent mounting.

Since there are no clamps and clips in order to mount and hold the microphone, there will be no harm to valuable instruments. At the same time the microphone will maintain the aesthetic appearance of the instrument towards your audience and retain a full and undisturbed view of the fingerboard.

All microphones for strings have a built-in windshield, which is designed to drastically reduce wind noise in open air performances. The windshield is placed inside the microphone and is therefore invisible and non-removable. With the built-in windshield, you do not need to add any other windshields to your microphone. The built-in windshield does not change the quality of the microphone or sound quality in general.

The LB/WL6 microphone model is based on the same principle as the standard LB model only with a different connector (TA4F) and designed to support Shure compatible wireless transmitters with unbalanced input circuits and a BIAS voltage of 3 to 8 volt (instead of 48 volt balanced phantom power).
